Vegas Vacation Day 3 - Dance Walking

Day 3 - 2/16/15
Happy six-month wedding anniversary!  The only reason this even dawned on me was because my mother had mentioned a few days prior that we would be vacationing over that half-year milestone, thus proving her selflessness in not even mentioning her birthday was just two days after.  Love that woman.

Anyway, Monday was kind of a dull start, as we were wrapped up in a presentation for a majority of the afternoon, but it resulted in free golf vouchers and meal vouchers, so we were not about to complain.

Once we got back to the resort, we immediately booked tickets to a show called "Raiding the Rock Vault" that had been highly recommended to us, and we were pretty excited to go see it.  Despite the fact that we had already occupied most of the day, it was nice that most Vegas shows started at 9:30, so we had a little bit of time to explore before hand.

We hadn't really had lunch, and figured we would grab a bite to eat after the show, since we were cutting it close.  So close, in fact, that we didn't think we could necessarily rely on the hourly shuttle, so we decided to call a cab to expedite the process.

The following things happened between when the cab was called, and when the cab arrived:

  • The resort shuttle arrived
  • The resort shuttle left
  • I called my mother, and spoke to her on the phone for 20 minutes
  • The resort shuttle came back again

FORTY MINUTES AFTER WE CALLED, the cab driver finally decided to show up, and boy was that ride pleasant and cheerful.  Not awkward in the slightest.  Luckily, we were able to pick up the tickets later than we'd thought, so we were still able to grab them once we got to the Tropicana.

We gambled a little bit at the Tropicana and had a beverage or two before we entered the theater.  The tickets that we had said GENERAL ADMISSION, but somehow, the usher brought us right up front in a red leather semi-circle booth.  SCORE!  I attribute it to two things- 1) We were a tad younger of a demographic than most people there, and were probably more likely to get up and dance, and 2) We already had beverages and would probably get more use out of the cocktail waitresses at the front of the theater.  Both were accurate assertions.

The performance was basically members from famous rock bands coming together collectively to do incredible songs throughout Rock & Roll history in chronological order.  The caliber of talent was amazing, and we had (almost too much of) a fantastic time!

We were, at that point, a little inebriated and very hungry, so with Andrew as our fearless leader, we sought out some available food.  Our endgame for this night's adventure?  Making it to Paris.  No, not the city, you fool.  The casino!

We were close enough to be able to travel on foot, but instead of walking…we dance walked.  What is this, you ask?  Well, it's sort of like prancersizing…

…but way more technical.  You know how when you're at the mall, and each store has its own music playing and you feel sort of schizophrenic trying to walk to the beat of all the songs as you pass by each store?  Maybe that's just me.  Anyway, that's sort of what this side of Vegas was like, but the music was much louder, and it lasted much longer.  Also, between Andrew, Deltra and I, the level and technicality of dancing was pretty high, so we were adding in fancy turns, step-ball-changes, and using our surroundings to frolic like we were Julie Andrews.  It was completely and utterly majestic, and we burned quite a few calories in the process, too!

Eventually, we ended up in Paris, and ordered a pizza, which seemed to be a contradiction of stereotypical cuisine, but I was drunk and hungry and not about to question preconceived notions at this hour of the night…which happened to be about 1:30 am.

We took a cab back home, and hit the hay for some much needed rest before Dyllon and Lisa were to arrive the next morning, huzzah!

  1. What a day it was! We are awesome dance-walkers! That pizza tasted amazing (probably because of all the grease). This last picture is pretty fabulous. Jazz hands!!

  2. Seriously that last picture is so epic and pretty much encapsulates the whole night. It was definitely one of my favorites, despite me not remembering taking it! 😋
